Samuel Burt
Poet & Artist

Samuel Burt’s poetry has been featured in Colorado Review, Arc Poetry Magazine, and Salt Hill, and most recently in Cream City Review, The Journal, and American Literary Review, as well as many other print and digital magazines. In 2025, Samuel was selected as the inaugural Iowa Writers Resident at Iowa City's PorchLight Literary Center. In 2024, Sam was selected as the Walt Whitman Birthplace Association’s Gwenn A. Nusbaum Scholar, and in 2022, his poem “Hunter’s Moon” was a winner of the AWP’s Intro Journals Project. Sam grew up in Grinnell, IA, where he went on to receive a Russian degree from Grinnell College. Sam holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Bowling Green State University and works at a college library in Iowa.
